One question. One winner. One opinion you can act on. How we pick · No affiliates

Privacy policy

Last updated April 29, 2026

Short version

We do not run advertising on this site. We do not maintain affiliate tracking. We do not run third-party trackers, social pixels, or behavioral-advertising cookies. We use minimal first-party analytics to understand which articles get read. We do not sell or share data with any third party for advertising or marketing purposes.

What we collect

Server logs

Our hosting infrastructure (Amazon CloudFront in front of Amazon S3) maintains standard request logs containing the IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp of each request. Logs are retained for 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes and then purged. We do not associate IP addresses with any other identifier.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-respecting first-party analytics service that does not set cookies and does not collect personally identifying information. The data we see is aggregated: which pages are popular, which countries readers are in (at country granularity, not city or below), and how readers got to a page (search engine vs. direct vs. referral, with no per-user tracking).

Email

If you email any of our addresses, we have your email address. We do not add it to any list. We do not sign you up for anything. If you want a reply, we'll reply; otherwise the email sits in our inbox until it's archived per our standard retention.

What we don't collect

Cookies

We do not set any cookies on this site. None.

Third parties

The only third-party services that load when you read this site are:

We do not embed YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or any other content that would set tracking cookies on your browser.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with personal-data rights, you can email editor@whatsthebest.report to ask what we have on you. The honest answer is essentially nothing — we don't have user accounts, we don't run trackers, and we don't have any way to associate a request log line with you specifically. But the right exists and we will respond to it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the modified date at the top of this page will change. Material changes will be announced in the public update log.
